Objects disappear and so do memories. The project “We are at the blue house” by artist Sun Yue is a demonstration of this.

The artist's gesture is first of all that of appropriation, the appropriation of a place, from which she respectfully extracts pieces. During her residency with Tante Martine, the artist made detailed visits to the apartment, curiously opening the cupboards. Gradually, Aunt Martine's furniture emptied and objects piled up on the table in her studio. There was a wine glass, a picture frame, a shoe, fruit, a soap dish and even Aunt Martine's old suitcase.

The artist reproduced each of these objects in a 3D printing pen, which she placed back in place, then plunged the apartment into darkness. And that's when a new version of these familiar objects emerged. It was only their phosphorescent blue outlines that made them visible. In the dark and devoid of a useful function, their symbolic function was revealed...

Even more than their affective value, Sun Yue makes us realize that objects take on the color of our emotions. And among all the colors, the artist chose blue. A sacred blue that oscillates between the silent one of Botticelli's Madonnas and the deep one of Chagall's nights. Objects of tranquility and dreams, the blue works of Sun Yue are there to revive memories, when time is right in our memory.

By concealing to better reveal, the artist reminds us that a daily presence becomes so obvious that we forget that it can also be ephemeral or fleeting. By revisiting our reality, Sun Yue sheds light and enlightens us on those moments when, when things or people are missing, we suddenly become aware of what they mean to us. Then, the artist whispers to us in a loop through the loudspeakers: “we are at the blue house”. She repeats that we are together in this house with its bluish streaks. Connected by a moment, connected to people by their presence or by our memories with them.
